Sr. Alexandra was a very simple and humble Sister who lived her life fully dedicated to the Lord. She was a member of the Congregation of the Missionary Sisters of St. Peter Claver for 68 years and served the missions and our Congregation in Canada and the United States with her prayers and work. She was known for her great missionary zeal to spread God’s love and mercy to all she met.
She was a joyful person dedicated to prayer, office work, cooking, driving and gardening for as long as she could stand on her feet. However, in 2020, after the recovery in hospital from Covid-19, she was no longer able to walk. From that time on she lived in the Copernicus Lodge in Long Term Side department.
Although in her final years she experienced dementia and did not not always understand where she was and what was going on, she always was aware that she was a nun and she recognized that we were her sisters – even if she could not remember our names.
She was always smiling and comforting others, and we witnessed her great desire for prayer, spending her last years in prayer, adoration and participating in the Holy Mass.
Sr. Alexandra died peacefully on Saturday, February 21 at the age of 92 and we hope she is now in the arms of the Father.
